The Number Of Hosted Pages on ".com, .net, .org, & .tv"

Graphs for The Number of Pages Hosted on “.com, .net, .org, and .tv” goes into greater detail showing the rise and falls within these TLD’s hosted pages in monthly intervals. This rise and fall still is not a “truly” credible market indicator, because once again it merely states the number of hosted pages; what is it the rise and fall of? What about all the pages that are not, and have never been recognized by search engines? Perhaps a number of corporations are revamping their web pages this month, and many of hosted page extensions are no longer “live” because they have been undergoing development and are inaccessible to web crawlers/web users. Next month, these pages are “live” once again, and it would appear to be an upward spike in the market; when in actuality the market never changed, just underwent a little transformation of a few pages.

Many economic, global/societal, and individual factors influence the TLD markets daily exactly like global stock markets. A small example is when Unity 4 Humanity, Inc. got into the world of “.tv” channels shortly before their rise to public awareness. U4H, Inc.’s core consultants have been aware of, and studying this TLD since its conception in March 1996. When U4H, Inc. first started to invest in the world of Internet Television Broadcasting purchasing “.tv” channels on a large scale, we were able to see how our corporation’s spending patterns directly effect .tv graphs/statistics; and other individuals/corporations investments in this globally recognized TLD.

For many years, and when U4H, Inc. first started to “invest,” the number of hosted pages was in the low thousands; and for those most part those logically had to be, and indeed were unique domain addresses (not extensions) recently purchased. U4H, Inc. purchased and made live close to the “number of hosted pages” that “.tv” increased during specific months. In addition to that, few could have had the time to, or the desire to extensively develop these properties into many pages; and further analysis supports this claim. Many individuals have since had the foresight to see value; and the desire to invest in something they believed would become more valuable in time, could develop at a latter date, and/or sell for a profit. Unfortunately many individuals, having owned these properties for some time not aware of the big picture, are the same individuals who didn’t know it wasn’t as easy as buying a domain name, selling it, and making money. They decided they had invested too much time, energy, and efforts, and this news was enough to scare them into pulling out their investments.

A larger and more recent example is in the month of March 2007, the ccTLD “.tv” lost approximately 200,000 “active sites.” The “.tv” industry was, and still is, growing faster than the “.com” industry upon its initial conception. U4H, Inc. does not understand why that information has not been publicized in the front pages of all news papers around the globe. The slight dip in active sites (-200,000) is directly attributed to the scattered global news/news paper coverage in the western/westernized nations regarding Tuvalu’s slow sinking.

This recent and breaking news, although nothing knew (PBS in December 2005 “That Sinking Feeling, Global Warming, Rising Seas;” August 2002 University of Hawaii Sea Level Centre (UHSLC) and the Australian Tidal Facility (ATF): “A Note on Relative Sea Level Change at Funafuti, Tuvalu http://staff.acecrc.org.au/~johunter/tuvalu.pdf), once made somewhat mainstream created an awareness, fear, and temporary hysteria in some individuals/corporations. Some decided to pull out their money/investments; and this percent change is a valuable market indicator because upon further investigation it can be illustrated that this 200,000 dip was indeed unique Url’s/unique domain addresses. Like the stock market, whether numbers are going up, or going down, people are making money and capitalizing; only when numbers are stagnant is there are problems for all investors.

These individuals/corporations obviously “did not” do their homework when researching these TLD’s; and once again re-released into the general mix some valuable globally recognized top level domains that those in the “know” are/were able assume control of and potentially capitalize upon. Other hosted pages, merely extensions of a unique parent page, are lost to us and perhaps will never come back/or in an entirely different fashion.

Tuvalu has always been vulnerable to climate change, and there are additional environmental problems (i.e. population growth, poor coastal management) which are affecting the sustainable development of a modernized infrastructure. The island communities of Tuvalu are extremely susceptible to changes in sea level and storm patterns. It is estimated that a sea level rise of 20-40 centimeters in the next 100 years could make Tuvalu uninhabitable. Some believe the relocation of the population of Tuvalu to Australia, New Zealand or Kioa (Fiji), is necessary/inevitable. The Prime Minister of Tuvalu, Maatia Toafa, says his government does not regard rising sea levels as such a threat that the entire population would ever need to be evacuated; and he said this with good reason because once again a 20-40 centimeter rise in the sea level could make Tuvalu uninhabitable and might happen in the next h-u-n-d-r-e-d years.

Nonetheless, even if the beautiful country of Tuvalu was to be engulfed by waves and water today, many more are confident and understand that the “.tv” TLD will continue to live on for a number of very valid reasons (i.e. it already will be and is mainstream, established, and necessary; the Technical Contact, and the “actual” domain servers are located in the United States (Virginia) so there is no danger of the brains/content going underwater.) When investing in a stock or TLD’s individuals and corporations must decide whether they are investing for long term, or short term; and what are their eventual goals.
